Lymphatic Drainage Therapy in NYC

The lymphatic system is the body's unsung hero. It supports your immune health, clears inflammation, and removes waste from every tissue. When it’s not functioning well, you feel it, swelling, fatigue, brain fog, or slowed healing after surgery.

At Spruce Physical Therapy, we provide medical-grade lymphatic drainage as part of an integrated, whole-person approach. As a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT), I work with patients recovering from surgery, managing chronic inflammation, or seeking preventative care.

What Is the Lymphatic System?

Your lymphatic system is a vast network of vessels and nodes that circulate lymph, a fluid that carries white blood cells and removes waste, toxins, and excess fluid. Unlike the circulatory system, it doesn’t have a pump. It relies on movement, breath, and muscle contraction.

When the system becomes congested, it can result in:

  • Swelling (especially in limbs or abdomen)

  • Bloating or heaviness

  • Poor wound healing

  • Low-grade inflammation

  • Increased infections

What Is Medical Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle, rhythmic technique that stimulates the flow of lymph. It is not the same as a spa lymphatic massage.

As a trained CLT, I perform:

  • MLD using Vodder and Casley-Smith techniques

  • Scar tissue and fascial mobilization

  • Post-operative swelling reduction

  • Compression education and bandaging if needed

This therapy is appropriate for:

  • Post-op recovery (C-section, laparoscopic, orthopedic, cosmetic)

  • Endometriosis and pelvic inflammation

  • Lymphedema or lipedema

  • Hormonal bloating and fluid retention

Why Lymphatic Therapy Matters in NYC

Surgery and stress are common in NYC life. Many of my clients are postpartum, post-op, or managing autoimmune conditions. Lymphatic therapy helps reduce inflammation, support detox pathways, and restore ease to the body.

We offer in-office or in-home sessions tailored to your comfort. Whether you’re healing after surgery or trying to support your body’s natural drainage, this therapy is restorative and powerful.

How It Works at Spruce

During your first session, we’ll assess your goals, symptoms, and lifestyle. You’ll receive:

  • Hands-on therapy customized to your needs

  • Breathwork and movement cues

  • Education on how to support your lymph health at home

You’ll leave feeling lighter, not just physically, but emotionally too. Lymphatic care isn’t just for recovery, it’s an essential part of preventative wellness. When your body moves better, everything functions better.
